Pineapple Express (2008)

A stoner (Rogen) witnesses a murder and runs to his dealer’s (Franco) place for help. The rest of the movie is the two of them on the run from the baddies. It’s completely silly for 80% of the film, then gets crazy violent (while still maintaining a cartoon vibe) in the last act.

Funner than I thought it would be, but completely inconsequential.

Don't Breathe (2016)

When three small-time burglars hear about a blind guy in an all-but-abandoned neighborhood who is likely to have $300k in cash in the house, they determine to make him their next mark. Things don’t go well.

I was pretty impressed with this film. The jump scenes weren’t over-the-top and the twists were truly surprising. Good little thriller.

Small Crimes (2017)

Guy gets out of prison, but his old life is waiting to drag him back into the gutter. His bad luck was over-the-top, but it was quick and dirty and Robert Forster’s in it, which automatically earns it a couple of points.

The DUFF (2015)

High school girl buys into the theory that she’s the “Designated Ugly Fat Friend” to her two hot & popular besties and sets off to change that perception. Though it’s predictable and extremely slight, the two leads are charming. So, while I wasn’t mad at it, it is -- at best -- serviceable.

The Beauty Inside (2015)

Since his 18th birthday, Woo Jin has been waking up in a different body every day. Obviously, this makes it hard to maintain relationships & employment.

It's an interesting idea that had moments of true beauty and sadness, but there was no kind of satisfying resolution.
