Dual (2022)

In the future, you can get cloned if you're dying so that those you leave behind don't have to be sad. So, when Sarah gets sick, she does just this. But clones are only approved for terminal people, which means that when Sarah recovers, one of them has got to go.

Such an amazing idea, but it's ruined by the deliberately emotionless behavior of all concerned -- as though they were all automated phone systems come to life. I saw the writer/director's "Art of Self Defense," and it's clear this is a tic of his, but it just doesn't work at all here. I thought this could've been a real winner if the people displayed normal emotions, but the weird style distracted from the innovative story.
