Iron Man (2008)

Entertaining enough and good looking, but felt a bit "less" overall than expected.

I'm in the Dark Knight camp, I guess.

Altered States (1980)

Ridiculously weird movie about an anti-social researcher into altered states of consciousness, achieved first through isolation tank experiments, then drugs, then isolation experiments AND drugs: the magic combination!

Somehow he's able to access eons-old memories and become a prehistoric monkey-man before he's pulled back from the brink by loooooove. I didn't really get it and I didn't really care. It's so, so tedious and talky.

Definitely, Maybe (2008)

I have no explanation for the fact that this movie made me go into great hitching sobs...maybe because I finally found that chick-flick I'd imagined Sisterhood 2 might be?

I quite enjoyed the fact that the outcome was different than I expected (or even hoped). Once again, however, I did NOT enjoy the scene stylings of Abigail Breslin -- kid's got no timing and diminishing charm. Also, Ryan Reynolds as a romantic lead was pretty bland. It seemed the trio of ladies used him like a Ken doll, each imagining him as more interesting than he actually was.
