The Organizer (1964)

Poor Italian village is mostly employed by the local factory with workers pulling 14-hour shifts (6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.) with just 30 minutes for lunch. Finally fed up, they decide to unionize with the help of a professional organizer with good ideas but little to lose (from the locals’ perspective).

It’s just a flat out great movie. There are real consequences to their actions, a huge cast that we somehow learn to tell apart despite speaking a different language, and decent doses of humor throughout.
