His Girl Friday (1940)

Cary Grant is an editor with an ex-wife who also used to be his best reporter. When she comes back into town with a new fiancée, he does everything he can to neutralize the guy while tempting her back into the fast-paced reporting world.

And wow -- I remembered this as a fast-talking riot. It's fast-talking alright, but the humor really doesn't hold up. Gary and I just sat the couch with confused expressions and zero laughter.
