The Nest (2020)

A thriller with Jude Law and Carrie Coon and a title that sounds promisingly insidious? Well, it's spooky season, so yes please!

Law (British) is the second husband of Coon (American) and they seem to be flourishing in the states, along with their their two children. But he says he's got a big opportunity in England and wants to move the family there and, since it's the '80s and he's the man of the house, there they go. They're in a huge mansion, living way beyond their means, and everyone's struggling in their new country -- including Law who can't land the deals he's working.

Unhappy family, big spooky estate -- we were teed up for the big scares. And then they never came. The whole movie was basically "toxic man uproots his family based on a hopeful fabrication and it doesn't pay off."
